HomeOur AccommodationPhotographsSkye-The IslandTravel and Info

The Island can be reached from a number of directions, either by car or public transport or a combination of both. Now that the The Skye Bridge is toll free access is unrestricted. For those wishing to preserve the romantic notion of 'Over the Sea to Skye' there are two ferry routes from the mainland, one at Glenelg and the other at Mallaig.
Travelling from the south take the A82 north to Invergarry
and then branch left on to the A87 which comes all the way to Uig.
From Inverness follow the A82 along Loch Ness and then right on to the A887 and join the A87 to Skye.
If you wish to cross the picturesque Glenelg ferry turn left on the A87 at Sheil Bridge. To cross from Mallaig to Armadale turn off the A82 at Fort William.
Train services run from Glasgow Queen Street to Mallaig via Fort William, connecting with the ferry to Armadale. An alternative train journey is via Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh. For train buffs these are two routes not to be missed.
Express Coaches run between Glasgow and Portree and Inverness and Portree with local connecting services on the island.
